In the Colca Canyon, I experienced an impressive hike through one of the deepest canyons in the world. The overnight stays in charming huts and encounters with local flora and fauna made the trip unforgettable. Despite the physical exertion, the view and cultural experience were worth every effort.

In Arequipa, we stay at Hostel Fuentes and explore various attractions, from the Plaza de Armas to the Monasterio de Santa Catalina, mostly on foot, but sometimes by taxi when Anja feels unwell. They enjoy local foods, including vegan menus at Omphalos and juices at El Turko. Anja takes a day trip to the Salineras and discovers flamingos with three nuns while Pascal recovers at the hostel.

CUSCO #3 - Full Power, Full Schedule

Anja is spending an eventful week in Cusco and undertaking four tours, including the alternative and 'real' Rainbow Mountains as well as Laguna Humantay. She is meeting many interesting people and enjoying the impressive landscapes and cultural impressions. Despite a few minor inconveniences, like a bumpy bus ride to Arequipa, the trip is overall positive and rewarding.

PISAC - Blog, Relaxation and a Beer

We spent relaxing days in Pisac, enjoying the beautiful Hospedaje Catalina, exploring local markets and attractions, and tasting delicious local food. Our stay was enriched by motorcycle trips around the area and visits to the impressive botanical garden. Despite minor challenges like our equipment and the police check, friendly interactions with locals and fellow travelers rounded out our time.

We explored impressive attractions such as the ruins of 'Sacsayhuamán' and experienced many cultural highlights, moving mostly on foot and with well-negotiated taxis.

Finally, we reach the long-awaited destination: Machu Picchu. To get here, we endure several hardships, but the sight of the ancient ruins is more than worth it. Within the complex, we also climb up a peak on very old, steep, and wet steps.
