Accommodation
We stayed again in the same accommodation but did not receive any further discount. The price per night was thus 65 soles.
Attractions
In addition to the attractions we saw during our first stay, we also visited the following:
- ChocoMuseo
- Casa Inka - Museo vivo / Casa de los Cuyes
- Destilería Andina / El Albergue (here, Jona and I did a distillery tasting while Pascal rested in the hotel room)
- Archaeological site Pinkuylluna (these are the ruins directly opposite the main ruins)
- Archaeological site Quelloraquay (the path here was dotted with streams, soccer fields, and cows; I am glad that we tackled this adventurous path in good spirits) We skipped the ruins "Pumamarka," "Punku Punku," and "Inti Punku" as well as a natural bath in a nature pool recommended by our receptionist. Additionally, we booked a tour with a travel agency. It would have been cheaper to negotiate directly with the taxi drivers, but well - hindsight is always 20/20... For 180 soles, we took a taxi to the following attractions:
- Moray
- Chinchero
- Plaza de Armas de Chinchero
- Antigua Plaza de Chinchero
- Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Natividad
- Centro Arqueológico de Chinchero
- Mirador "Machu Qolqa" We were supposed to go to the Salineras as well, but according to our driver Luis, they were closed that day. Hmm, well okay. As a substitute, we were allowed to visit the archaeological center in Chinchero, where we shopped a lot. Our tour ended in Urubamba.
Transportation
Everything within the city was within walking distance.

We ate in the same restaurants as last time but also explored a bit beyond that.

- 15 soles for six pieces of pizza from the bakery "Valle Tumi"
- 3 soles for four "picarones" (a fried pastry with spiced syrup) at the market square, available only in the evening
- 2.50 soles for a chicken skewer at the market square, available only in the evening
- 2 soles for a piece of physalis cake from a woman at the market
- 1.50 soles for a cup of chocolate "avena" (chocolate oat drink, which Jona did not like at all 😭)
- 1.50 soles for a quinoa drink at the market

Insoluble Mysteries
Why does a man have to act as a traffic light at the bottleneck in Ollanta?
Taxi to Urubamba
Our taxi driver Luis took us to the terraces in Moray and to Chinchero on the way to Urubamba. In Chinchero, we did some shopping and were shown by local girls how the processing of alpaca wool works. They work with the spindle and dye the wool with different plants. Very interesting! Since Luis believed that the salt terraces or "Salineras" were closed on that day, we got to visit the "Parque Arqueológico de Chinchero." After that, we were driven to Urubamba. Our driver also lives there, so he could save the trip back to Ollantaytambo. In Urubamba, we looked for a hotel (which turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected), and Jona and I did some exploring of the city. Pascal rested in the hotel and was served tea by our lovely receptionist. More about this in the next article!
