We work for ten days on a small organic cocoa / coffee farm. There we not only learn how cocoa trees are pruned, but also how to prepare and eat numerous local dishes. We also do a few trips with our host Richard.

On our way to our next destination, a small farm, we stop in Huancayo. Since the city is known for its good food, we try a variety of traditional Peruvian dishes here. We also storm the local markets and get some gifts for the family.

Anja returns from Ecuador. We take a few days break and relax. Apart from visiting and comparing several bakeries and a few restaurant visits, not much happens in these days.

We reach the airport unscathed and Nina successfully embarks back to Europe. I travel for a day and a half back to Lima. Everything works out reasonably well here too.

In Cuenca, we experienced a few beautiful days: In addition to exploring the old town (one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites), we made an adventurous trip to the 'Cajas' National Park (where we could observe one or two hummingbirds) and ended Nina's time in a relaxing spa in Baños.

Nina's favourite place in Peru has a lot to offer: lots of relaxation and still plenty of action. Surfing, horse riding, and swimming with turtles are just some of the activities we did here. By the way, there are also nice people, delicious food, and many opportunities to stroll around!

Our Easter weekend didn't go as planned. In bed and with stomachaches. As we felt slightly better, Nina plunged into the waves and we enjoyed the sun at the beach. Next year, however, we would love to have our Easter egg hunt and not have stomachaches at home!

Next to Machu Picchu the ABSOLUTE must-have in Peru. Wonderful lagoon tours at affordable prices and Peru's highest mountain are waiting for you! We are absolutely thrilled, only the acclimatization to the altitude we should have planned better. After all, we are on the road up to 4200 meters!

Within a single day, we visited a nine-head palm, a witches' park and a desert. In addition, we had two wine or Pisco tastings, which were very, very tasty! You can certainly imagine that sandboarding at the Huacachina desert oasis did not go quite soberly ;)

A few hours south of Lima, we visit the city of Paracas. Here we enjoy the great landscape of desert and sea, but also the numerous animals. A taxi driver also tells us a few exciting stories about the city.

Finally, we reach the destination of our long and arduous bus journeys with the starting point "Asunción": Lima, the capital of Peru. We visit various museums, attractions and get used to the local traffic habits (or lack thereof). In addition, Anja's sister, Nina, comes to visit and we end our time in the capital with a sunset at the beach.

On our further power trip to Lima, we stop for a few days in the mountain town of Cochabamba. There, we get to visit not only the huge Jesus figurine, but also the many sprawling markets and a small art exhibition.
