ROTH - back in Germany

Retrospective Addition
Even after more than half a year, I still often think back to South America. Many memories of encounters with people, the diverse landscapes, the food, and the culture will always hold a special place for me and have left a lasting impression on both Anja and me.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to have experienced such a long adventure at all. Both the good and the bad experiences. The memories of the Torre towers, the Fitz Roy massif, the Atacama Desert, the Huayana Potosi, the highland forest region in Peru, and the Eco Lodge in Bolivia's Amboro National Park still give me pleasant shivers of awe. Even the many times plagued by illness have left something good behind. The sharpened self-awareness of when something is too much for the body and when it's better to take it easy or avoid something, especially suspiciously tasting chicken and natural forces like sun and altitude. Before the trip, I considered myself a pretty relaxed person, but after many moments of waiting for buses or other stressful situations, I think there's still a long way to go here. I was particularly happy that my friend Jona visited us in Peru and we could visit Machu Picchu together.
Traveling with a well-measured amount of unknowns in your luggage is definitely something I don't want to miss in future vacations, and I can only recommend this way of traveling to anyone who wants to experience and later tell some exciting stories. But as always, adjust the dosage beforehand ;)

Acknowledgments
Many thanks to our parents who made the necessary space for us to do this in the first place. Storing our household items, the move, and especially Anja's parents who stepped in and took in the cats. Further thanks go to my employer, who was flexible enough to allow me to work remotely from such a distance. At this point, I would like to highlight my team leader Bernd among many supportive colleagues, who put in a good word for me. Without this support, it would not have been financially feasible in this scope - of more than three-quarters of a year.
But I want to express my biggest thanks to my dear girlfriend Anja, without whom not only would none of this have happened, but who also researched a large part of the activities and destinations and made them into very special experiences through her excellent Spanish skills.

Post Scriptum
This time there's a very special treasure trove of images for interested readers. Not only a selection of the best pictures from the entire journey - 124 in total - but also enhanced in Lightroom by my father as a birthday gift. So enjoy them, I've already shown the photos to some of you ;)

Post Post Scriptum
If I feel like it and there are new adventures to report about, perhaps another blog entry might find its way onto this website in the future ;)
