Accommodation

Our accommodation was outside of Mercedes and it is the first time that we hardly see anything of the city and do no sightseeing. Pascal has a bad sunstroke and since we only arrived at 2:15 a.m., there was a lot of sleep and rest. Our pretty cottage was surrounded by green meadows and we could also observe some birds from the window. A lucky find! In addition, we did not have to pay for the first night;) The price for the second night was 17 euros. The hot water tank is perched here as usual next to the house on four high legs.

SIM Card

Again the Argentine from before. We even had some data volume left over from our time in Buenos Aires, so everything was very straightforward.

Sightseeing

We enjoyed the calm in our cabin and did not miss anything. On the ride we saw:

  • Puente Internacional Salto Grande (the bridge is also the border Uruguay - Argentina)
  • Monumento al Tango (in Concordia)

Transportation

We were given two taxi drivers by our hostess. The fifteen-minute ride cost 2500 pesos. On the way there the bus driver simply dumped us 5km before our goal and we had to take a taxi. The driver probably wanted to quit early.

Food and Drink

We ate leftovers and oatmeal with milk powder and hot water.

Plants and Animals

We were able to observe various birds from the window. They had a special plumage, each held in red and green. There was also a horse paddock nearby.

Number of Germans in the City

0 cases observed There were many birds to observe at our estancia, but no humans.

Contact with Locals

I only exchanged a few words with our lovely hostess Dolores.

Expenses

None

Laundry

Again we did not do laundry

Currency

Again Argentine pesos. Inflation continues to rise and we benefit from the exchange rate of Western Union Bank.

Bus to San Miguel

So that was such a thing. We had several, not very great options:

Option Number 1

  • Private transport from our nightly remis driver.
  • Cost: 300 pesos per km
  • Route: 278 km
  • Total cost: 83400 pesos

Option Number 2

  • Night bus without transfer
  • Departure 4:00 a.m. (Almost San José)
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Cost 33000 pesos

Option Number 3

  • Bus with a changeover in Saladas
  • Departure: 11:00 a.m. / 12:00 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. (Ray Bus / Ersa / Santa Lucia)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Cost: 8000 pesos per person
  • TRANSFER IN SALADAS
  • Departure: 6:30 p.m. Río Paraná or El Pulqui
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Cost: 7800 pesos per person
  • Total cost: Approximately 32000 pesos A small house next to the bus station was decorated with a beautiful illustration We chose option number 3 and arrived at 8:55 p.m. after an exhausting day. Both in Mercedes and in Saladas I used the time and shopped a bit: loose tea (Marcelita for 1000 pesos), cheese, tomatoes, peppers, baguettes, Queso Crema, After Sun, disinfectant, and water. Also, I was asked in the supermarket if I come from Argentina - äääh no? How does he come up with that? My Spanish wasn't that great ;)
