LA PAZ - Back again

Accommodation

After our mountain climb, we returned to the Skyline Hostel. Our room was large and the bathroom clean. We also received a discount and paid a total of $15.30 USD or 106 Bolivianos for the two nights.

Attractions

The attractions that I/we visited after Huayna Potosí have already been included in the last La Paz blog post. In general, I can say that I spent a bit more money (especially on souvenirs) than I anticipated :D But since we are in Bolivia, in total, it's really not all that much.

Transportation

Everything on foot.

Food and Drink

We remained loyal to "our" restaurants and paid a bit more than we actually had to. But on the other hand, the hygiene there is better :)

Cafés and Restaurants

  • Papa Express
  • Queen Quesadillas & Tacos
  • Api tradicional KYK
  • Tambo
  • Bolivian Green Kitchen

Plants and Animals

Nothing to report…

Number of Germans in the City

Still many Europeans visible.

Contact with Locals

We had little contact with locals.

People Met

I chatted a bit with the street vendors at the Witches' Market, they were really nice!

Expenses

More than I thought ;)

Laundry

We did not have our laundry washed.

Unsolvable Mysteries

How many of the souvenirs were actually handmade and made in Bolivia?

Currency

At "Banco de la Nación" we could withdraw cash for free.

Bus to Tupiza

From our hotel, we took the minibus to the terminal. There was little space for our gigantic backpacks, and I nearly fell into the car because I got off-balance ;) The bus ride to Tupiza was more or less a disaster. Everything was super confusing, and the buses also departed much later than expected. That automatically meant we would arrive at our destination in the middle of the night. The bus was empty at first, which made us a bit afraid of being robbed. Pascal then brought our backpacks from the luggage compartment up to us on the upper level—everything was slightly cramped ;) In El Alto, there was a crazy traffic jam and apart from us, only one other passenger got on. It was very interesting to watch from the window and see the local women busy at the market. At night, we drove through places like Oruro and gradually, people got on. Shortly after 5:00 am, we arrived at our destination, Tupiza. We walked about ten minutes to our already booked accommodation and found our receptionist asleep. We checked in, asked if any tours were starting today (no), and then fell exhausted into bed.
